The dating scene is tricky to navigate, any London matchmaker can tell you that, but the key to success in love is to appear confident, even if you don’t feel it. Here are a few tips to help you project a more self-confident air, regardless of whether your stomach is churning and your palms are sweating. No one will ever know!
Eye contact
Maintaining eye contact is essential if you want to seem confident and at ease in someone’s company. If you’re nervous, you may find that your eyes flit around the room while you’re speaking but this is one habit you need to break. If you’re speaking or your date is speaking, make sure you focus on their face. But be aware that too much eye contact can freak people out so be sure to look away in natural pauses in the conversation.
New clothes
There’s no better way to immediately put a spring in your step than by going on a date in lots of new clothes. You’ll feel like a completely different person and ready to tackle anything that comes your way. If you buy new shoes, make sure you wear them in first though – constant complaining about sore feet is not a good look.
Be friendly and approachable
Confident people are generally nice and friendly to everyone who crosses their path so don’t start teasing too much or being rude to someone your date knows. That’s a sure-fire way to bring your date to a screeching halt – and no one wants that.
