Only 40% Of Boomerang Couples 'Get Back Together For Love'

Anyone who has come out of a long-term relationship knows the temptation of getting back together with their ex, as it is something they are familiar and comfortable with. However, just 40 per cent of people in relationships who give it another go (known as ‘boomerang couples’) do so because they love each other, according to findings from Co-op Legal Services. It revealed that 28 per cent of divorcees in the UK thought about getting back with their ex, despite the number of successful singles events in London that are available these days. Of this percentage, as many as two-fifths gave their marriage another shot. Despite this, 29 per cent did so only for their children’s sakes and 15 per cent said it was for financial reasons. Head of family law at Co-op Legal Services Sam Hickman said: “It’s really important that where couples choose to reconcile and get back together that they think carefully about their reasons for doing so and are absolutely sure that this is what they want.” It was added that boomerang couples have to be particularly careful of children’s feelings, as they will find it even harder to cope if their parents once more. Instead of getting back with your ex, it might be time to move on to pastures new and find someone else. Elect Club’s matchmaking services can help find the right person for you, while our regular singles events give you the opportunity to meet new people so you can start a fresh chapter in your life.
